Teleprompter Control from the Editor and Multi-Camera Filming

From the SUFLER.PRO text editor, you can launch the script on any number of teleprompters simultaneously, control playback, and see on your PC or tablet screen everything that is being displayed on the teleprompters.

This is convenient both for solo shooting, when the laptop is positioned in front of you in the frame and serves as the teleprompter control center, and when you are working with an assistant who manages the text.

Everything works wirelessly over a Wi-Fi connection.

If you are using a single teleprompter but want to diversify your shots and not always look directly into the lens, you can use an additional phone as a teleprompter with mirroring disabled. Read the text while alternating between looking at the main teleprompter and glancing at the extra phone, simulating a sideward glance.

Technical Requirements for Connecting Teleprompters to the Editor

  • The controlling and controlled devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Make sure you are not using a VPN.
  • Install the desktop version of the editor for Mac or Windows; the browser version does not support remote control.
  • Use a router to set up the connection. Internet access is not required; all commands and text are transmitted locally.
  • Check, whether your subscription plan includes access to this feature. The Pro+ plan supports controlling one teleprompter, while the Studio plan supports two or more teleprompters.

Local Network Access Permission for Mac

When using Apple devices, you need to grant permission to discover devices on the local network. Depending on the device model, this may be requested during app installation or during device setup.

If the permission was not granted, enable it here:
  • Mac: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network
  • iPhone: Settings → Apps → SUFLER.PRO → enable the Local Network checkbox

Preparing the Teleprompter for Connection

  1. Open the remote control settings in the SUFLER.PRO app on the device acting as the teleprompter.
  2. Select the control mode: Phone/PC.
  3. Enable remote control.

Connecting the Teleprompter

  1. Enable remote control in the editor.
  2. Tap Add Device and select the desired device from the list.
  3. To control from the editor, click Control from this Device.
  4. To verify, press TEST on the connected teleprompter — the screen will flash.

Repeat the procedure to connect additional teleprompters.
You can rename a connected device by tapping on its name.
Now all settings of connected teleprompters are controlled from the editor, except for mirror mode, which is enabled individually on each teleprompter. The toggle button appears on the screen when the teleprompter is paused.

Control Panel Interface

  1. Text Scroll Progress Bar.
  2. Text currently displayed on the teleprompter.
  3. Font size.
  4. Text speed.
  5. Play / Pause.
  6. Start delay timer.
  7. Text alignment.
  8. Title of the current chapter / script and navigation buttons: next / previous.
  9. Vertical / horizontal teleprompter orientation.
  10. Restart script.
  11. Line spacing.
  12. Text playback mode: repeat script / repeat chapter / no repeat.
  13. Text margins.
  14. Center focus.

Text Managing Tips

  • Manual text scrolling can be useful if your team includes a teleprompter operator. To do this, hover your mouse cursor over the text area (2) and scroll using the mouse wheel, two fingers on the trackpad, or by dragging the text with the mouse. You can also adjust the text speed during recording in the same way: hover the mouse cursor over the speed control wheel (4).
  • To quickly start a specific chapter from the editor, click its icon with the timestamp.

Troubleshooting

  • Make sure all devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Disable VPN if it is enabled.
  • Ensure you are using the latest versions of the applications.
  • Restart the application. If the problem persists, reinstall it.
  • Check that the app has permission to discover devices on the local network.
